Here is the official Merlin synopsis for the ninth episode of Series 3 entitled Love in the Time of Dragons. Gaius must be in love, he’s changed his clothes!

When Alice, an old flame of Gaius’s arrives in Camelot, Merlin is pleased to see a different side to his mentor, as BBC One’s mystical family drama continues. But, after discovering that she is under the influence of a Manticore, a creature from the Old Religion, Merlin has no choice but to tell Gaius of Alice’s evil intentions.

Blinded by love, the physician refuses to believe Merlin’s story and the two friends fall out.

With the King in danger and all evidence pointing to Alice and the evil magical creature that has possessed her, Merlin must somehow make Gaius come to his senses before it is too late.

Alice is played by Pauline Collins, Gaius by Richard Wilson, Merlin by Colin Morgan, Arthur by Bradley James, Uther Pendragon by Anthony Head, Morgana by Katie McGrath and Gwen by Angel Coulby, with John Hurt as the voice of the Dragon.

Love in the Time of Dragons airs Saturday 6 November at 7.40pm on BBC1.
