Details for the second series of Russell T Davies’ CBBC drama Wizards vs Aliens have been announced.

CBBC’s Wizards Vs Aliens returns for a second action-packed series this autumn in an extended 14-episode run.

The series, which was created by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who), brings magic and sci-fi together as 16-year-old wizard Tom Clarke and his scientific friend Benny attempt to stop the Nekross from creating big trouble for all of wizardkind.

A fast-paced adventure full of danger, fun and friendship, the second series of Wizards Vs Aliens follows Tom and Benny’s journey as they meet new Aliens, new Wizards, and face their greatest challenges so far. With the Nekross threatening their most powerful attacks yet, it’s more important than ever that Tom and Benny work together to ensure the survival of both wizardkind and the Earth.

Russell T Davies, creator and executive producer of the show, said: “It’s a delight to be back on CBBC with a series which is wilder, bolder, deeper and funnier than ever, taking us from suburbia to the wilds of Tibet, encountering spaceships, magical worlds, haunted castles and galactic wars along the way. And at the centre of it all is the most important thing of all – the friendship between two boys, as junior wizard Tom and his best friend Benny fight to save the world. Magic and science are a combustible mix – and this year it’s going to explode!”

The series stars Scott Haran as Tom Clarke and Percelle Ascott as Benny Sherwood, the series also features Annette Badland (Doctor Who, The Sparticle Mystery) Michael Higgs (EastEnders), Jefferson Hall (Vikings, Emma,), Gwendoline Christie (Game Of Thrones), Dan Starkey (Doctor Who) Tom Bell, and the voice of Brian Blessed as the alien Nekross King.

Produced by BBC Cymru Wales in association with FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment, the 14×30-minute series will air on CBBC later this autumn. It was filmed at the BBC’s Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff and on location around the area.
