The Fades’ future has been uncertain since the first series concluded late last year. Despite favourable reviews and decent viewing figures, it has been confirmed the show will not return for a second series.

The news was broken by actor Johnny Harris in an interview with SFX.

It comes as little surprise with the BBC making drama cutbacks left, right and centre. Last year BBC3 controller Zai Bennett stated either Being Human or Fades would be up for the chop. With a fifth series of Being Human recently announced, the writing was on the wall.

The Fades was originally planned for a three series run. Sadly, it’s now just another one to add to the cult TV graveyard.
