The Walking Dead: The Governor First look

We had Michonne, so now it’s time for a first look at the second major new character for Season 3 of The Walking Dead. This time it’s The Governor.

British actor David Morrissey is playing the character. Like Michonne, fans of the comic will need no introduction. For everyone else, the character is the nasty leader of Woodbury town, home to a small settlement of survivors. He becomes the chief antagonist for Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group.

Unlike Michonne, Morrissey’s Governor is quite a radical departure from the look he had in the comic. Creator Robert Kirkman assured fans the character will remain faithful though.

Kirkman told TVGuide: “The Governor in the show is definitely going to be The Governor in the comic. I think that he’s definitely going to be a character that people love to hate and are absolutely entertained by, but also somewhat terrified of. He’s definitely going to be a very important character and a very nuanced character. We are not going to be watering him down.”

“Having The Governor in the mix is going to fundamentally change the show in all kinds of awesome and exiting ways. And David Morrissey totally rocks!”
